On Thursday, February 10, 2011, I began my journey and became a member of the community of learners at SWRMS. New faces, large spaces and a million other things kept my mind spinning all day.
After being introduced to each class (watching them stare, whisper and question "is that her?" almost had me laughing! I watched the lesson...paid close attention to those who spoke, those who didn't and every movement that came flying through the room.
To my disappointment, there was very little structure, organization or substance for learning within the classroom. Students were up and down, out of their seats, talking to anyone who would listen and definitely were NOT making a good impression. I squirmed in my seat to think I was taking over these students in 2 days and they had literally been thrown out to the wind and it would become my job to catch each and every one and bring them back home.
Little did I know how hard that task would be.
